Man, that's the million-dollar question we were all asking for years! Throughout the whole show, Barney just says "Please" whenever anyone asks him what he actually does for a living. It became this huge running gag that kept us guessing until the very end.
Turns out, he was working for the bank all along. Near the end of the series, he finally reveals that his job title was "Provide Legal Exculpation And Sign Everything," which is basically just a fancy way of saying he was the guy signing off on illegal stuff so the company could blame him if things went south. Pretty wild twist, right? I honestly thought he was doing something way more complicated.
