Did James Howells ever find ‘The Bitcoin Laptop’???
You need to go with the Official Craigslist App now. It wasn’t always available, and for years, people relied on things like CPlus or cPro, but the official one on the Google Play Store is the most straightforward for jobs now, and here’s why:
The official app is the best because it cuts out all the spam and extra ads that the third-party ones sometimes put in. For job searching, you want a clean interface that loads fast so you can see the listing and immediately check the email or application link.
Crucially, the official app is designed directly by the Craigslist team, so it’s the most reliable for viewing posts exactly how they were intended, which is important because job descriptions can sometimes get messed up in third-party apps’ formatting. It lets you save your job searches and filter by category (like full-time, part-time, gigs, etc.), and it just has the least junk. It’s not fancy, but for a reliable job search feed, that’s what you need.
That’s a tough one because a lot of people still think of the third-party apps first, even though the official one is available now. The “best” for job searches really comes down to whether you prioritize multi-city searching or just want the most simple, reliable feed.
I’d say CPlus is the winner because of the alerts. For a serious job search, you need to know about new listings immediately because the good ones get buried fast. CPlus lets you save specific search criteria (like “warehouse job” + your town) and then sends you push notifications instantly when a new match is posted. That real-time alert system is essential for a job seeker and, in my experience, works better than the default alerts on the official app.
If you’re not going to use the official one, the one called CL Mobile is a solid alternative for job searching. It’s definitely not as pretty as some others, but it’s really fast and lightweight. If you have an older Android phone or slower service, CL Mobile loads the text-heavy job listings faster than some of the more graphically intensive apps. The advantage is speed in the Craigslist job world, the first person to reply often gets the job interview, so a fast-loading, simple app is actually a huge advantage.
Indeed.com craigslist sucks for that
I’d suggest sticking with the Official Craigslist App (it’s the one simply called “craigslist” by the developer “craigslist.org” on the Play Store). The reason it’s the best for job searching is because it’s the most simple and has no third-party ads or trackers. When I’m looking for a gig, I just want to see the job listings, filter by distance, and contact the person. The official app is low-frills, meaning there’s less to distract you, and it loads quickly. The fewer steps between me and the “reply” button, the better.
Honestly, if you’re serious about the job search, the best “Craigslist app” is actually CPlus for Craigslist. Yeah, I know the official one exists now, but CPlus is just better for power users.
It’s been around forever, and the main advantage is that it lets you search multiple cities at the same time. Craigslist itself is totally localized, so if you’re looking for work in your area but also in the next two major towns over, CPlus lets you set up one saved search that covers all three. It has much better, more advanced filters than the official app, and you can save your searches and listings more easily. For job hunting, being able to cover a wider area without doing three separate searches is huge, especially if you’re willing to commute.
The official app is fine, but it’s kind of clunky. Back before the official one came out, I always used an app called Postings. I still think it’s really good, especially because it gives you the ability to save templates for your replies. Think about it: when you’re applying for dozens of jobs a day on Craigslist, you’re sending almost the exact same email every time. Postings lets you just pop in your template, change the specific job title, and hit send. That feature alone makes it the fastest one for mass-applying to entry-level jobs or side work, which is mainly what you find on there anyway.
Forget the official app for a minute. If you’re looking for gigs or quick, temporary jobs, you need an app that lets you view results on a map, and cPro is great for that. Being able to see job pins pop up on a map near your current location or near a neighborhood you want to work in is super fast for finding local opportunities. It’s not just a list view; it has a map browsing mode, multiple layouts, and strong filtering. For job searches that are location-critical, cPro’s multi-view options and alerts were always superior to the basic official app.
