If you were offered the chance to be the first human to set foot on another planet (be it Mars, Venus, Jupiter, etc) would you take it? Why or why not?

   Is it there going to be an attempt to return to Earth or is it strictly a one way trip? If there is a chance of coming back and depending how old my kid is I’d strongly consider it. Not really out of any desire for fame or glory but just because the idea of exploring other planets was something I dreamed about since I was a little kid watching Star Trek. But at the same time the idea of having no chance of ever seeing my daughter again would too much, the risk I could take but a certainty I couldn’t. tl dr Would go if there was an attempt to come back back but not if it was one way.

   yes. even if you die or don’t make it to that place. you would make history, forever. you would forever be known as the first person to either attempt to travel to another planet in space or successfully travel to another planet in space.

   To be the first human to step on another planet such as mars is a double edged sword. Will you make the history books? Yes more then likely. Your name will live on forever. But by leaving earth you leave all your family, friends, and luxuries behind. Destined to live a life of loneliness assuming you can somehow survive living on the planet mars. So would I do it? No. An ordinary long life is much better then an extraordinary short one. What use is my name in a history book if I’m dead. Although if I was like 80 I’d say yes because I’ve lived my life.

   Absolutely! I am hopeful that humans will get to Mars in my lifetime. SpaceX and NASA are both making plans for it sooner rather than later. Ways to sustain life will have to be setup before humans get there and once that happens, I would absolutely be fine being that first human to head there. It has been a lifelong dream.
