By the end of World War I (1914-1918), Germany had lost all of its African colonies. These colonies included territories such as Togoland, German South-West Africa (present-day Namibia), German East Africa (present-day Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi), and German Cameroon. Following Germany’s defeat in World War I, its African colonies were redistributed among the victorious Allied powers through various treaties and agreements, primarily the Treaty of Versailles in 1919.
