  1. Well, a few years ago I compiled a LOT of links to articles explaining in detail various changes made in America since 2001 that took away civil liberties, rights, and freedoms from its citizens. But you should also know there was a significant amount of that which took place PRIOR to 2001, as well. 9-11-01 just greatly accelerated a process which was already underway. My compilation might not be exactly what you’re looking for– but it should offer some good leads in that direction: They own you– and all your property too: How Americans meekly surrendered to fear and intimidation to give up their freedom and property rights at the dawn of the 21st century

  2. “Sorry, I’m not aware of such a list (though libertarian outlets like Reason or the Cato Institute might be a good place to start). Also, if you’re trying to convince people who don’t really follow current events (i.e. most people), I would lay off phrases like “wake up.” It makes you sound like a conspiracy whacko, which is unfortunately what I’ve been accused of when citing things the U.S. government has clearly and admittedly done. “

  3. Patriot Act and Military Commissions Act immediately come to mind.

  4. If you showed Americans such a list, divided between laws that relate to terrorismimprisonmenttorturesurveillance and laws that relate to things like healthcare mandates and taxes…….. they will yawn and shrug off list 1, and go absolutely ape dont’t-tread-on-me about the second. Freedom to most Americans seems to mean freedom from taxes. Civil liberties are several degrees less important, judging by how people vote.

  5. More importantly – can you give examples of how, where and when you feel your personal liberties were trampled?

  6. Every law is a freedom lost. A law enacted today excludes and action you were free to engage in yesterday. Free Leonard Peltier and Julian Assange.

  7. Start with the patriot act.

  8. Yes, it’s called the Congressional Record.

  9. Yes, but it’s classified.
