I didn't really know what the stock market was all about before this, but when i saw the graphs in the red back in late Feburary i realised what was happening, i watched the price of gold rise, and i thought to myself, 'theres far safer places for my money then just a bank account' my dad opened a PB and was doing low risk investments on the stock market so inspired by him i started up my own PB (unfortunatly they declined my documentation so i still don't have it) and i started buying silver and gold, bags of old coins, new bullion issues, and a few small gold thingies, it's not a lot but i'm glad my money is in safe stuff, although i can't stop thinking about burglars, but i created such a convoluted system involving mutiple things across the house, no one will ever figure it out.

Not so much a home thing, but a work thing.  With the teller lines closed, I've been able to learn different aspects of my credit union. I learned how to be a Interactive Teller (think a Skype call with a teller over an ATM), I've taken incoming phone calls for the contact center. I've stared taking loan applications, I've done home equity loan closings. I can now open accounts with no problems. I got my notary in January, so now I can start notarizing things and learn what I can or can't notarize according to our policies.  I set up an IRA the other day, and even though it wasn't from scratch and I had someone walking me through it, it was still my first time doing it (gotta crawl before you can walk).

So hear me out, I was on exchange in Austria when all this shit happened and I am about to go back. So I went there around a month before the pandemic, made a nice group of friends, but after the pandemic happened I didn't get to hang around with them anymore as they all went back.  One month passed and I was lonely asf, with mental issues up to boot. And suddenly I joined a new group. Let me tell you I had the best time of my life and I couldn't have asked for a better time of my life.  Don't worry we lived all together

I also actually had a loan from the government related to work completely forgiven.  I went from trying to fight down $1500 outstanding on my credit card to having $1000 in my savings account.

Over quarantine I was inspired to start working out. People often called me weak and things like that and all this extra time was just what I needed to start. So, I ordered a set of dumbbells and took my grampas old workout machine, and created a mini gym on my porch. I have been working out consistently for a month now and plan to keep going.

Saving money. I never quarantined. I'm an essential worker (AKA sacrificial worker) so I worked the whole time. I was working much more than usual but I spent almost none of it. Since all the stores, bars, etc were closed I just kept all of it in savings. I thought it would take me much longer to reach my financial goals but my time frame for that has been cut in half because of the quarantine.

Pushups. When I'm working from home, I have an interval time that I set for 30 minutes and it lasts the length of the work day. Every 30 minutes, it beeps and I'll get up and do some pushups. I'd never do this in the office, but I'm at home- why not? I started out with 5 pushups every 30 minutes. Then 10. then 15. Now I'm at 20 pushups every half hour and I'm threeish months into it? I feel stronger and I can definitely notice a change in my triceps, shoulders, chest, and core.

"Not me personally, but in general one positive thing about quarantine is that it has changed the "sick culture" in America, where it is drilled in our heads to go to work while sick as long as you aren't dying. If you don't, you are guilt tripped, and sometimes we are too afraid to call out sick. I'm glad we are taking this more seriously now, because it really sucks, even if it's a cold, to go into work and spread it among your colleagues and possibly clients, depending on the job. Stay home and take care of yourself, get healthy. It's such a toxic mindset to suffer while sick, especially in low paying jobs. "

Three things actually: Our household finally invested in a handheld bidet shower thingy and we are now phasing out as much paper of our household as possible. Look up family cloth if curious. We use beeswax cloth instead of clingwrap, knitted cotton squares instead of Kitchen roll, etc. It won't save the planet, but our concience feels better. I started writing again! And am actually getting somewhere! Getting the garden sorted much to the chagrin of our cat, who had her own personal jungle.

"I lost my scholarship last semester. If classes continued me and my family wouldn't be able to afford my tuition. But since the pandemic started we're able to take a breather and save up money and we can at least afford my online classes. But then due to complications every other student lost their scholarship as well, which is really terrible (for them anyway). Also writing. When my I lost my scholarship I was really miserable for two weeks. But then I thought, "I should write down that fanfic idea that's been going around my head for forever." Next thing I knew I had written 20k+ words in just a month. Pandemic started and I still kept going, I lost count at that point but I'm pretty sure I hit 45k+ words. "
