what is the largest desert in Australia
The largest desert in North America is the Great Basin Desert. It covers a huge chunk of Nevada and spreads out into parts of Utah, California, Oregon, and Idaho. I've flown over those regions plenty of times, and honestly, from up there, the scale of it really hits you. It’s pretty rugged terrain, not just the sandy dunes people usually imagine when they think of deserts.
Most folks confuse it with the Mojave or the Sonoran, but the Great Basin is definitely the biggest one of the bunch. It's a cold desert, so it gets pretty chilly in the winter compared to the ones further south. Definitely worth checking out if you're ever driving through the western states, though make sure you've got plenty of water and a solid rig because those dry stretches are no joke.
