I've spent plenty of time navigating those waters over the last few years, and you're mostly looking at the Sea of Japan, which sits right between the islands and the mainland. It’s a pretty busy area for shipping, honestly. You've also got the Pacific Ocean stretching out to the east, which is massive and definitely feels different when you're out there on the bridge.

To the north, you'll run into the Sea of Okhotsk, and down south, things start getting into the East China Sea and the Philippine Sea. It’s a bit of a maze if you aren't paying attention to your charts, but it's a cool part of the world to sail through. Just watch out for the weather patterns there, they can get pretty unpredictable without much warning.
