where is Krakatoa located
Krakatoa is situated in the Sunda Strait, right between the islands of Java and Sumatra in Indonesia. Honestly, it is one of those places that commands respect whenever you are navigating those waters. The currents around there can be tricky and the whole area has such a heavy history because of how volatile the volcano has been over the years.
I have passed through that region a few times on different routes and it is always a reminder of how powerful nature actually is. Even though the original island was mostly destroyed back in the late 1800s, the current volcanic activity there still keeps everyone on their toes. It is definitely not the kind of place you just breeze past without keeping a sharp eye on the charts and weather reports.
Krakatoa is located in the sunda strait, right between the islands of java and sumatra in indonesia. I've sailed through those waters quite a few times and it's honestly a pretty humbling area to pass through considering how massive that volcano is. It's basically a volcanic island group that's been through a lot of changes over the years because of how active the region is.
If you're ever looking at a map, just check the narrow strip of water between the two big islands. It's not the easiest place to navigate sometimes due to the currents and the geological history, but it's definitely one of those spots that sticks in your memory once you've seen it with your own eyes. Pretty fascinating place if you ask me.
