where are the Atlas Mountains located

The Atlas Mountains stretch right across the northwestern part of Africa. When I'm out at sea, I often look at the charts and it's amazing to see how they run through Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia. It’s a pretty massive range that separates the Mediterranean and Atlantic coastlines from the Sahara Desert.

I've actually sailed near those coastal areas a bunch of times and you can spot the peaks from quite a distance when the weather is clear. It's a rugged landscape for sure, definitely not the kind of place you'd want to get lost in. If you ever get the chance to visit that region, the views are totally worth the trip.
