The capital of Saudi Arabia is Riyadh. I've flown over that region plenty of times during my shifts, and honestly, seeing the city lights from the cockpit at night is something else. It's grown into a massive, modern hub compared to what it used to be a few decades back.
Most folks usually associate the country with Jeddah or the holy cities, but Riyadh is definitely the heart of the place where all the major business and government stuff happens. It's pretty dry and hot there, but the way they've built up the infrastructure in the middle of the desert is impressive to witness.
