"I actually have a story that goes against the "cool collected politician" persona a lot of people seem to have run into. During the '08 primary, I saw Hillary give a speech on Veteran's day (might have been memorial day). She was talking about veterans and, more largely, what we're supposed to do when someone has been through something traumatic. She said something along the lines of "sometimes, there are no words. You won't always have the right thing to say. But we can still bridge gaps. I think each of us can start to help someone who's going through a tough time, just by giving them a hug." It was such a tender, almost cheesy sentiment -- not something I was used to hearing from her. I've thought about it a lot since then, and that advice has come in handy more than once. She shook hands after the speech and talked to some of the high school students about how important it was for us to get involved in public service. "

She did an event in a restaurant in New Hampshire one day back in '08. There were a few other people around so it's not like I could talk to her one-on-one very much but it was still much different seeing her in person rather than on TV. I forgot what it was now (I was fairly young at the time) but she was talking about some issue she was very passionate about and she actually started crying. Kind of gave me a new perspective going into this election with how much we heard that she's just a cruel, heartless, emotionless lizard person.

I met her as a prize for winning a writing contest. She took her photo, kept her distance, had a smile plastered on. Then once the camera left, she left without a damn word. It was so bizzare.

"I met her and Bill a while back, at the memorial service for Paul Wellstone. A family member was on his plane, so I was allowed in what was essentially the VIP area before the memorial. It was a who's who of D.C. types, most of whom I didn't recognize...I'd love to be able to redo that now. I was young and shy and asked both of the Clintons for autographs/pictures, which she seemed unhappy about but Bill was cool with it. Probably not the time or place, but I was young enough for it to be kinda acceptable. Totally overshadowed by John Glen giving me a pin, though. edit My mom was obviously a big fan of Hillary, and was the one that noticed her brusqueness. I say she seemed unhappy with it because, to this day, my mom will say "Ohhh maybe it wasn't the time for autographs". "

I had a really awesome professor in grad school who went to undergrad and law school at the same time with hillary. I was in the class early in Obamas first term. shed talk about hillary quite often (it was a law and policy class so it was also relevant). Its was all abouy how freakishly smart and well liked hillary was in school. That basically from her freshman year she made a name for herself. Said she was always gracious and nice. My professor thought of herself always as dumb but hillary would always include her in discussions and listen to her speak. The woman appeared infactuated and upset hillary didnt beat Obama in the primary. I always liked the clintons but those stories made me really like hillary

I once prayed with Hillary. It was a fluke, and I was too embarrassed to admit I was a raging atheist. She had a fairly serious bible study circle study going. She is fairly hardcore, Methodist and quite sincere. She has some serious armor though, she was pathologically private if you were not one of her close acquaintances. She flat out refused to trade on the religion thing for political capital, which I found a bit incredible.

I met her when I was a Senate intern in 2004. I snuck into the end of some big luncheon to try and meet her. She was very nice and pleasant to me, I appreciated her not just brushing off some random lowly intern. I liked her fine. I also met Bill at a fundraiser that summer, it's true he is the most charismatic man on the planet.

I've met her twice while she was campaigning in the 2008 primaries. The second time I brought a picture of the two of us that was taken the first time we met. I was in the crowd at a rally as she was signing stuff. People just sort of line up along the bannister and hold out campaign signs and stuff for her to sign so it's kind of hectic. I was holding out the picture for her to sign, and when she saw it, she looked up and reached out her hand to grab mine. She was smiling said thank you. It felt very genuine. My parents also have a family friend who is a TV producer who worked closely with the Clintons producing some ads in the past. He knew them fairly well - had lunch privately with them, went to the afterparty in their hotel suite after an event, etc. - and he said she was always extremely down to earth, fun to be around, and easy to talk to. He said Bill likes to lecture you.

"I met her back in 1996, when she was campaigning for Bill, who was running against the Dole/Kemp ticket. There was a big public rally, and some of the college republicans came out and chanted "Dole/Kemp" through the whole thing, and she was unfazed, and encouraged them to use their voices on election day. Afterwards she shook a lot of hands, including mine, and she was smiling and gracious. "

My Aunt met her many times. She said she was polite and overly proper at times.
