"The "Ship's Mast" scene from Death Proof. Holy fucking shit, man. I don't know if it really was one long, unbelievably uncut take or if Tarantino did some clever masking of it but I was on the edge of my fucking seat for 20+ fucking minutes. Like, we've all seen movies with scenes where you're emotionally invested and worried that something awful might happen to the character, but this has been the only time a scene has taken me out of the movie entirely and had me worried on behalf of the stunt-woman. Intellectually I probably realized that they wouldn't have been able to complete the movie if the stunt-woman had died halfway through the scene, that I would have heard about that in association with this movie if that had happened, that I'd seen Zoe Bell in other stuff after this movie, etc. But none of that mattered while I was watching it. It was straight up some of the most stressful, nerve-wracking half hours of cinema I've ever seen. "
