In the United States? Not ever. Certainly not comfortably. The costs of living are skyrocketing in the United States as wage stagnation and increasing prices for goods and services mean that the money in your wallet buys less and less each year. Medical costs do not seem to be decreasing, housing in any place that isn't bumfuck nowhere, a ghetto, or is reasonably nice with anything interesting to do is expensive. I'm actually hoping the Latin American countries can stabilize, or at least become more developed. I predict costs of living will be much, much lower, and I can just leave the country in my older years for cheap, healthy food that's locally grown, cheap doctors who will do house calls, housing that costs nothing, and maybe a few housekeepers who come by occasionally to do chores. And the cost of all that would likely be the same, or lower, as living in a residential home and having some bitchy CNA in spongebob scrubs do a half assed job.

Probably early to mid 60s. If I'm lucky, late 50s, but that's highly dependent on my fiance, her career as an attorney and if she can make it a very lucrative one. She is also 9 years younger. I have a good job, but I won't get rich here. Just trying to put away into my IRA as often as I can, plus the pension system that my employer provides. We shall see how it all turns out. Edit: grammar

Right now? Never. I'm hoping to break into software development soon, which will let me retire whenever I damn well please, which will probably be when I'm too old to keep up with the ever-changing technology.

If the law stays the same in Germany - which I doubt - I will retire at 67. But they are currently debating on raising the age up to 70. But I don't think I'm going to be able to live off my pension.

If medicare for all passes before I die, then probably at 65. If it doesn't, then probably never. My 401K does a projection of what your monthly costs will be vs. what your monthly 401K income will be. If trends keep the way they are and I also have social security, if I retire at 65, my healthcare will be more than what I bring in from retirement plans by the time I'm 70.
