Guys who watched a thousand movies, who got so used on all the plots and twist, and seen almost all movie tropes, what recent movies made an impression on you?

"It's not about plot, its about execution. Imagine I was pitching Jurassic Park to you. "So this guy manages to clone dinosaurs." "Ohh cool! And they break out of the lab and kill the scientists?" "Um. No. Well he builds an amusement park where they are the attractions." "Ohh COOL! And they break out of that and kill the tourists?" "Yes. Well. It hasn't officially opened yet and a team of scientists and the owner's kids are going on a pre-open tour" "And they get stuck and the dinosaurs break out and they have to escape?" "Yes." "Well... I mean don't you think that's a bit obvious?" My three best story experiences of the past few years have been West World Season 1 (which is unexpected because it keeps you guessing about what kind of story it is) Spider-Man Homecoming (which I think was just beautifully written and did something unique in its genre) and Dredd (which was the absolutely most predictable movie I've ever seen yet I couldn't have cared less). "Klaus. I watched it after Christmas because I hadn't heard of it, but for an independently made movie, it is one of the best movies I have ever seen. The art, the music, the voice acting. All of it is fantastic. And the message behind the story is a fantastic one. "An act of good will sparks another." It's my new favorite Christmas story, one that I will enjoy with my family for decades. "
Knives out was enjoyable.
Good Time was one of the most thrilling movies I've seen in a long time... non-stop action, and the score by Oneohtrix Point Never might be the single greatest soundtrack I've ever heard (I haven't gotten to see Uncut Gems yet, but it's the same directors and also scored by OPN). Never thought I would really appreciate Robert Pattinson, but he did a truly superb job in that film.
""You were never really here" (2017) - Joaquin Phoenix plays an even more intense role than he did in Joker, and plays it equally stunningly. Director is Lynne Ramsay. Her way of storytelling through unique cinematographic techniques and use of sound and image is incredible. "
Arrival. Mostly due to the sound engineering and editing. I actually watched the movie a second time with headphones on and discovered more intricate sounds and clarity. That mixed in with the plot not being a typical alien movie.
Stranger than Fiction. Not very recent, but what a great idea to have the characters in a story hear the narrator.
The Lighthouse Like psychological movies that have unpredictable scenes. Especially actors that show their lack of limits.
I've seen some amazing movies in the past year. I really think Midsommer and Parasite were game changers. Also, Jojo Rabbit was an extremely funny and well done satire. I just don't think that it's revolutionary.
"Blade Runner 2049. Never realized how much of a sucker I am for realistic world building and amazing cinematography until I watched this in theaters. Very worth the watch. Also a great subversion of "The Chosen One" trope, though I won't go into details. "
