why are you taking amphetamines? serious question. i also suffer from depression and other mental illness. have you considered (free) support groups in your area? sometime having others listen and finding people experiencing similar problems helps. are you getting enough omega-3's? if you have a tendency to isolate i would recommend joining some clubs/activities you enjoy so that you can interact with people and have a starting point for doing so. i also find journalling helpful. if you haven't read it, the noonday demon is a pretty solid book about depression.

I didn't know chocolate cravings were a symptom... but it explains my chocolate cravings lol. I am also 28 and feel the same way. I unfortunately refuse to take medication for it and talking doesn't help. Good luck man.
One thing I find to help (though my depressive episodes are mild) is comedy. Funny movies, stand-up, slapstick, Mel Brooks, Monty Python, etc. Find the stupidest shit and laugh your ass off at it. Dumb people are a source of uplifting emotions for us all...that's what YouTube is for! Find something that makes you laugh and pursue it! I know you said you don't drink carbonated beverages, but in my worse ones caffeine helps me quite a bit, at least for a while. I stay away from it during manic episodes for obvious reasons.
my memories from depressive episodes are about as solid as dreams Have you got a trigger for these episodes or had some kind of traumatic incident in your life? I tried EMDR and for me that really helped as I had mentally blocked most of my past, unless I was asleep, then I would have nightmares where I almost was watching things that happened, but it never made sense as I couldn't remember the context.
Wherever you are, your first step should be to google (your state/city) low cost mental help. After that, check out nami Also, your medical history should go in the grey box above. Will be more readable for others. Good luck.
"Right now my significant other is on a business trip for a month, I work out and eat healthy just like you. The days suck when I don't get an ounce of face to face human interaction. Do you get out and "hang out" with others. I am not promoting this as a cure, you may be clinically depressed and no amount of hanging out will fix that. "
go to therapy change your lifestyle
I know I'm not you but I had a lot of depression problems until I was in my 30's and then a lot of it kind of settled down (my inward anger turned outward, which is another problem, but a lot more comfortable way to live...). I'm 43 now and have never been happier. Hang in there buddy.
Do you get enough sun? It can make a difference if you don't. if you live somewhere where you can't, is the vitamin D that you are taking the bioactive form? (vitamin D3) Don't be afraid to try new things or get a dog or watch the 'christian the lion' youtube
I found that when you are sad and depressed, best thing is to make changes! Sorry i know it is very general, but i find it that you can do it ! hope it helps!
