I don't think she's a celebrity in the traditional sense, but I think she's definitely well known enough: Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I'm still upset. Not upset like with RBG but Whitney Houston's death impacted me a bit too. I've always been a fan of her music, and felt a lot of sympathy for her struggles with addiction. It seemed like she was doing well and was going to make a comeback with I Look To You, only to die a couple years later. Just like there's nobody else like Cher, there's nobody else like Whitney Houston.

Tom Petty his music helped me get through some really dark times in my life. When I found out he passed away the world got still. His music still helps me to this day.

Aaliyah. I don't give a shit about celebrities usually, and I'm largely indifferent to black culture. But I remember when Aaliyah died I was still at college and it just - it shocked the shit out of me. She was an extremely beautiful and talented young woman, and that tragic event served as a formative indicator for me of just how sad and unjust life can be.
