Best websites/books to start learning German?

I think there's a program called Rocket German that you can download for free off their site STAY AWAY FROM IT! The phrases don't translate to what they say it does. Ridiculous things, such as 'the weather is nice this time of year' didn't look right to me, I translated it and it ended up translating to 'buy full version'. Unbelievable. For recommendations, I like 'Let's Learn German' by Nodtronics. Old software, but is what all the 'human' computer language teaching programs are based off :)

Creeped out by the fact that this is the only sentence you know.
I'd suggest Wer Wie Was, Themen Neu or maybe Sowieso. Out of these 3 series of books, I prefer Themen Neu. But be advised: it emphhasizes grammar heavily. For more conversational approaches, the other 2 are both quite good, imo.
My sister loves the Rosetta Stone stuff.
