"Teacher from high school husband won the lottery before passing away before I even started going there. She ended up getting a good pay out every month because of said husband on top of the lottery winnings and kept teaching, the only thing that really changed was the number of fucks she gave when talking too students. Since she was already near genius level of intelligence if not a genius she would give people the business daily in a way that most teachers wouldn't be able to get away with and no one would call her out on it. Since if you were her student she engraved in you the phrase "I can, I Will, I must". So if she ripped into you it's either playful banter or her calling you out on handing in shit on a paper. Last I heard she ended up retiring from teaching and pursuing law school. "

A friend of mine's family was pretty broke and they ended up winning cash for life lottery which is $1000/wk for life. It's not a whole lot, but still pretty useful.
some lottos give the option to take annual payments instead of a lump sum. other lottos have things like win x amount a week/year for life.
Due to a car accident when we were younger, my sister gets $2k a month for life along with $30k right away. I got like $8k as i didn't even get hurt. She sustained brain damage and was in a wheelchair for 3 months after the accident. She used JG Wentworth and sold the rights to the payments for 20 10 years for like $50k. Doctors said the brain damage will affect her decision making abilities for life. As you can tell, they were right
So you have 20k earning you 12k annually? I call bullshit you're not getting a 60% rate of return annually.
I know someone who won a lottery for life over a decade ago, and quit his day job in IT to volunteer full time for various disaster relief organizations like the Red Cross. He specializes in radio communications, and was running emergency communications at the Boston Marathon during the bombing for instance. He also did Angel Flights back when he had a plane.
I won a years supply of Fla-vor-ice. Got a delivery of 4 boxes of 100 bars each.
My high school math teacher won one of those $1000/week ones a while back and he and his husband adopted two children.
Fuck this. I'm sitting here trying to survive in the Bay Area (California) and I couldn't dream of being lucky enough to pay off my student loans and not have to stress about making rent at this point. All these people, saying their lives aren't much different with this extra help.., I don't get it.
It's a marketing thing - instead of the usual lump sum lottery winnings with big jackpots they try to entice you to buy tickets by offering $1000 a week for life etc... Makes people thing about the money in more real terms and therefore sells more tickets
