In Australia atm we're still suffering from a decent amount of racial descrimination and stereotypes both by the aboriginal natives and us colonizers. From what I've heard, there is a law where authorities can't punish aboriginal Australians unless it's something like assault or murder or until they move out and as a respect to their heritage leave it to their elders to punish them. The natives in my area run rampant because their elders do absolutely nothing to discipline them. They have repeatedly destroyed property, broken into and steal things from people's homes completely without punishment and its stupid. My squash club has spent so much money repairing windows because they throw rocks through them just for fun. One 9 yo kid in that group is single handedly responsible for 97% of property damage in our town, and there's absolutely nothing we can do about it, which sucks. This may sound racist, but it's how it is in my area at least. Can another aussie confirm this

The past and continued treatment of Canada's Indigenous populations. There is something called The Sixties Scoop where Indigenous children were taken from their homes and placed in homes or foster care. Then there were residential schools. Basically Indigenous children were rounded up and sent to Christian based boarding schools where essentially they tried to pray, beat, starve, sexually abuse the Native out of them. It has caused great Generational trauma and predjudice that is still occurring today. Many reservations lack clean drinking water, some communities have been under water advisory for 20years. Reconciliation has really yet to happen.
People of Aboriginal and Torres Strait descent still have minimal-to-no recognition under the law, their rights as Australians has only recently been addressed but they still haven't been given back many of their rightful lands nor received real compensation or apology for the whole stolen generation/invasion of the nation thing.
Ah, the Romas. That's been an ongoing one. We ostracised them, got them on social welfare, nobody was willing to give them work so they started living the way they knew - as wanderers, while taking the benefits because who wouldn't and now we hate them because they do the thing we taught them to do. It's wonderful. #sad
