Firearm carriers , has there been a time where you've used your weapon in a dire situation? What was the result?

I just finished a concealed carry course. every story that was told or scenario was absolutely horrific and usually ended in high medical/legal bills for both parties. the instructor still has a bullet in his chest from an encounter almost 20 years ago.
