Guys, If you have tried wearing skirts and liked it, but don't wear them in public, why not?

Every so often I will feel brave enough to don a skirt or a kilt in public. However, when I have: I have gotten a lot of microaggressive comments and harassment. I have mental health issues so I'd just rather not put up with it. ... And this was in Portland, Oregon, now I'm in a conservative town in upstate New York, so I can't see it being any better than that.

I'm just not ready to go out in a skirt, afraid of people judging and harassing. Plus I don't have any shoes that go with skirts
