"I just, honest to god, found a lot of stuff in school really interesting. Biology and physics were a bit dry at times, but they introduced me to the rigorous process of creating a scientific theory. Because of this, I am proud to say I value scientific literacy. Calculus was tough, sure, but I found it to be a beautiful way to make sense of an intricate and chaotic world. Things I once thought unknowable now appeared within reach. Want to know exactly where a graph switches from increasing to decreasing? Just manipulate the equation a bit and it will spell out for you exactly how to get there. Overall, I think it just comes down to me being a nerd who actually likes learning about stuff while others may find it torturous. In short, my answer would be "I dunno, learning was just cool to me." P.S. I'm also proud to say I know my homophones! Though there may be some confusion around them since their sounds are very alike, they're all quite distinct in meaning. "

"There are two factors... and I think they're equally important: Learning (for the most part) has always come easily to me. Aside from Algebra and complicated mathematics (except geometry and statistics), I've never really had to study or try to do well. Education was my safe-haven. I grew up in a very bad environment with a psychologically and financially unstable mother who more than a handful of "serious" relationships (men living with us) during my developmental years - including my step-father - who was imprisoned for manslaughter. I grew up in drug houses I learned to cook crack before I learned to cook food. More than that, though, I lived in absolute terror - having been physically and emotionally abused from the time my parents divorced until the time I left my mother's house and moved in with my father. Education was my sanctuary - the one stable place where trustworthy adults believed in and supported me. "

As a person who gets straight A's, lots of people who do get straight A's are not very smart. It's just playing the system. The school system isn't intellect based it's just a matter of turning in something and working hard to do bullshit assignments that make up a super high percentage of your grade for no reason. There are people that are brilliant but don't get straight A's and that's bc they just play their own system - they don't give a shit about whether or not the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.

Hatred. I do everything school related as fast as possible so I can get away from it and live my life.

In highschool it was mainly an intense fear of failure. In college I was genuinely interested in what I was studying and wanted to learn as much as I could. Now as an adult my main motivation is to go home at the end of the day

"I was seen as "clever" and a "high-acheiver" by most people in my life (teachers, peers, family), so felt I'd be a disappointment if I didn't do well. There was also the fear of being picked on as well. I was also just good at exams. Though these fears still existed in my last year of high school, I did end up without straight A's, partly because I wasn't in a good place at the time, and also partly because I'd already got into uni with my grades from the year before, so there wasn't much motivation for me to do well besides pride.
