I intentionally try not to drop hints in hopes of not making it awkward, while in the process making it more awkward. The telling sign is usually from body language, primarily avoiding eye contact and being extremely conscious of distance away from. Basically imagine trying to avoid all the signs of typical crushes.

This may apply to a very small fraction of male teenagers but I will make it a goal to talk about absolutely any and every topic, regardless of what it is. If it fits the interest of the other person, letting them talk however much they want about it whilst being attentive is a good feeling, especially when their excitement is just fucking adorable.
