Girls, why is there such a big difference between being seen in a bikini and your underwear?

The key difference is consent. When a girl is undressing/getting dressed they are likely to not expect someone to be there, unless they are aware or are comfortable doing that with you. A girl in a bikini KNOWS what parts of her body are showing and knows that she is in a situation where that is appropriate (like the beech or the pool). Additionally, bikinis are usually thicker around the bust meaning it's more difficult to see nipples than in a bra, and many girls prefer to wear underwear styles that don't show lines when wearing pants (I.e a g-string/thong) and she may be less comfortable wearing that style in a bikini, opting for something with more coverage. Underwear also has connotations of being what someone will see when having sex, a bikini isn't seen in this way and is less sexualised. A girl may see her underwear as being more private than a bikini due to the social implications of either set even though the actual coverage of the body might be the same

Bikini is for outside beaches, swimming pools etc. Underwear is for inner clothing

Underwear are clothing items that are made to hold things in place and to ensure comfort to the beholder of them. It's seen as a more private clothing item because they're are underwear and are in most cases used underneath the clothes worn out to the public. They're considered to be more private because they're are the closest thing to the genitalia area and the boobs. While bikinis were made to ease comfort to the beholder while out in the sun and made with a fabric that's okey with water. They're covering up the private areas of the body, keeping them for being exposed. Bikinis aren't made for be used in long periods of time like underwear's are. They ensure comfort and stability to the beholder when they want to be exposed to warm weather and water. Unlike the every day wearing the underwear's are made to be used for.

I think the difference is that when girls wear a bikini, we have to be aware of the kind of area or location where we are wearing it, it just means that we are aware that what kind of people are gonna see our body. When a girl wears an underwear and someone sees her, she freaks out because she was not aware of him seeing her like that and the location matters a lot. In a beach or swimming pool, there are other people who are wearing the same thing and its acceptable

Normally when I wear a bikini it's because I've made the conscious choice to be seen with that amount of skin on show. When I'm in my underwear there's a very real possibility you've seen me because you've surprised me. It's not the amount of skin on show it's the fact that I wasn't planning on seeing anyone in my underwear.

It's consent. When a girl wears a bikini she is comfortable displaying her body that way. When a girl wears underwear it's meant to be private and go underneath clothes she's more comfortable in. She isn't consenting to being viewed in those like a bikini.

Bikini and underwear carry different meanings. No one can say I look provocative in a bikini.
