What is something people act like is pretty common, when it's actually fairly rare?

This is probably unpopular, but getting beat/shot/tased by the police. (Coming from an ex junkie.) I've had plenty of run-ins with the law and never had it happen, except once when I deserved it. The bad videos gets the views, thats why we see and hear about them.

Getting a Masters Degree. I have one, but it is a lot less common than I realized.

Becoming what you said you wanted to become when you grew up. Or going to college for your major, getting a job in your major and continuing to enjoy that job.
