What would be a good job for people who dont want to be around other people? For those with social anxiety.

"Become an engineer of some sort. Study computer science or EE, and then focus on becoming an indispensable expert in one particular area. I mention this latter point because I've seen people who are simply adequate engineers/programmers eventually get shoved into middle management, which can be a crappy thing for introverts/people with social anxiety. On the other hand, if you have a high level of technical expertise in one particular area, often you can just keep advancing to more and more senior positions where you work on that type of task, rather than having to manage people. Eventually you will probably still end up managing someone, but it'll likely be more of a situation where you mentor direct reports who have a similar skillset, rather than ending up in a general "Assistant VP of Whatever" sort of position. I don't have social anxiety, but I am an extreme introvert, and I love that I can do 99% of my job without even speaking to another person. "

You can always compromise by finding a field where you're working with other introverts. I really like this about my job right now. I'm still around people and have a little bit of social interaction, but work by myself on my own schedule.

The ultimate forever alone job would have to be a truck driver. Does not matter if its a local delivery driver or a long range 18 wheeler. You will be alone in you're truck for 98% of the job.

DMV. Not to get away, but because people who don't like people work at the DMV. It's the natural order of things. Search deep within yourself, you'll feel the call.

You should know, now, that every job essentially requires some sort of customer communication. I think the best job for you would be in advertisement. In advertisement it's you and a small team of others who basically come up with advertisement fronts. You don't need to speak to the customers at all but you will spend a lot of time talking to your superiors.

As someone with mild social anxiety, a job that directly involved dealing with people. You can't hide from anxiety your whole life, you only get once chance at it.
