Look for a place were the type of people you like hang out, become a regular there. Just go outside, do the things you like but outside. Go writing in the park or a coffeeshop and talk to people. Organise social events at work, most people enjoy them, but are not willing to take the lead. I started doing LAN parties with my colleagues. Off course hobbies, support a team if you're not an active guy, winning and losing together creates bonds. Cooking classes, writing seminars, whatever, but do those things because you enjoy them and not to meet people, otherwise you could end up disappointed. You could also volunteer, a great way to meet people and it can make you feel better. Group travels are also fun, in a short amount of time you really get to know your travel compagnons.

I go to house parties and political events. Both focused on drinking and conversation. Good times. Really anything that breaks the closed loop of having only friends who are only friends with each other. When you start meeting new people, you can start meeting their friends too. Just keep expanding the circle.

If you're not into sports you might just go to the gym and work out.

Get off WoW. Look for social hobbies that may interest you. Any hobby that you might not even think of as social. Sports are obvious but how about remote control cars/planes? Photography? Cooking classes?

What do you enjoy doing? Get a hobby, practice said hobby, find others with the same hobby. Make friends with them.

You don't really meet people at bars and clubs so don't worry about that, you're not missing out on much there. The key lies in the friends you already have. Surely they know a decent amount of other people you haven't met before. So hang out with them more, and before long you'll meet them probably. Iuno, have a party or a bbq. Or do something that interests al of you. No not video games mmmkay? And what about your job? But the best way to meet people you like is through activities/hobbies that interest you the most. If it is video games, then so be it, enjoy your company and expand and etc

You could take up a sport! That's a great way to meet new people. Especially if you're on a team.

Don't drift away from your friends. Hang out with them, and the friends they have in other circles that you don't know. Then you gain new friends. Repeat. Same goes for coworkers.
