How do you imagine your life would be altered if squirrels suddenly developed the stinkbutt-spraying mechanism akin to skunks?

Not much honestly. If they behave the same as skunks and reserve their stink for emergencies there wouldn't be much of a difference at all. I don't harass the skunks or squirrels around me and it's pretty peaceful. I occasionally shoo the skunk off my porch or flower bed so he won't get into things he shouldn't but I've never been sprayed. Their poop slightly smells of their stink but they don't actually stink like Pepe Le Pew from Looney Tunes.

My dog would constantly be getting sprayed, because one of her favorite pass times is chasing the squirrels that come in or near the yard.

I think I have seen a squirrel in real life only once or twice. So I wouldn't be too worried.
