People who have trashed rental properties (houses, apartments, Airbnb's, etc), why?

Not me, but two of my roommates trashed my first apartment. One of them said it was because the rental company was complete dogshit and never fixed anything (which was true, a pipe burst and leaked onto our carpet, by the time they did anything we had giant spots of mold), but in reality those two were just lazy as shit. One of them, almost as soon as we had moved in and before the rental company started pulling crap, would stab his closet door with his katana for no apparent reason. Anyway, if it really would have done anything to hurt the rental company I wouldn't have minded so much, but the only thing that happened because of it was we lost our security deposit. Thanks, guys!

I was renovating the place, so out with the old, in with the new.
I don't even remember why, but someone I know lived in a house in a rural county, and got screwed over by the landlords. So when he moved out, he trapped about 40-50 geese inside the house, left enough feed and water for months, and just left it like that. The geese shit on everything until the landlord showed up. Once they chased the geese out, the goose shit had ruined the subfloors and essentially left the property uninhabitable, and it had to be condemned.
I lived with my parents during this time. They smoked all over that apartment. The walls were yellow and black from them smoking so much. They did not get the security deposit back. They now own their own house and they are still smoking inside the house causing the walls to turn yellow and black. I'll never understand it. They always wonder why I never stay long when I come over.
No idea why they did it, but when a friend of mine rented out his house while on a long vacation, he came back to the floor broken open and earth and light spots everywhere. Turns out the renters (who ofc disappeared) had been growing weed all over the house.
I was drunk and stupid and didn't know the host. Some girl rented the place for a party. Right before we left, I got on top of a weak wooden table with one of my friends, RKO'd him, table broke, and we both bolted. It was fun and memorable, but we definitely caused problems for someone.
More of a question to ask on Facebook I would think.
Bold of you to assume that they can read
I paid the agreed amount in cash, they then sent a bill pretending they hadn't gotten paid. I was stupid enough to not having gotten a receipt. So I banged the place up to about the amount I figured it would cost to fix it. Since they asked me to leave the key under a flowerpot I just claimed someone else must have found the key and since my lease was up it was their responsibility to secure their property. Fair is fair.
My friends dad left a stick shift on a hill in Germany and it rolled into a wall lol
