What are some ways restaraunts have figured out to rip customers off and we willingly take part in it?

Not sure if this one counts. My old work (coffee shop) got some premade desserts that other places tend to sell, but they tended to be $2.00-2.50 more expensive than other places. So a slice of pistachio ricotta cheesecake was $7.50 at my old work while it was about $5 at other places. The owners tried to say their shop is better than Starbucks, but the coffee wasn't that great so it was just a fancy Starbucks with a different name. At least Starbucks has a rewards system.

Depends on the restaurant. Probably the use of store bought food, like desserts, or sauces. Not going to name names, but I worked as a busboy when I was a lot younger. Saw a loooot of jars of off the shelf spagetti sauce for a restaurant that advertised their fresh pasta and fine cooking. Also store bought cake. Like the stuff you get out of a freezer at Walmart. I think lots of people know this, but it just tastes better when you go out to eat I guess.

Grilled cheese!! The cheapest, easiest thing anyone can make. Literally bread cheese and butter, and people pay $7+ dollars for it, craziness

Alcohol. They buy it for less than retail and then mark it up astronomically.

It's called the wine list. As a rule I get the cheapest wine. If it is shit they wouldn't attach it to their restaurant's reputation - it's unlikely to be total shit.
