Survivors of tragedies,what is the disaster that you went through and how did it affect you?

Hurricane Harvey, Houston 2017. I had been through Hurricanes before but this was the worst one. Just rain. And more rain for days. My house flooded and it took forever to get the aid and insurance money so our house wasnt returned to normal until May. I was at college not far from my parents house and couldnt get home until the flood waters receded from the highways. When I came back it was total destruction. Flood waters had destroyed buildings, fences, and other property. Abandoned cars left stinking in the middle of the street. Peoples belongings left strewn over their yards. It was however really amazing to see how the community both local and volunteers from abroad dropped everything to help. Still warms my heart to remember that bravery, servitude, and comaraderie between strangers.
