We would be royally screwed. Assuming the EMP was large, it would knock out power, which in turn would eventually knock out other utilities. The p utility stations would have to have all their electronics replaced, which would take months. In the meantime, without modern transportation (cars & trucks would die without their computer controllers) everyone would have to deal with lack of food & sanitation. It gets worse depending on how widely spread the EMP effects are felt.
