You're given immortality but as a cost you are sent back 3000 years - would you accept and what would you do?
Honestly, that’s a pretty wild thought experiment. If you put that deal on the table for me, I think I’d take it without thinking twice. Think about it: you'd be starting from basically zero in the year 974 BC. As someone who’s used to dealing with how things are put together and trying to fix stuff when it breaks, I think I’d have a massive advantage over everyone else back then. I’d probably spend the first few centuries just trying to introduce basic engineering concepts or irrigation techniques way ahead of schedule.
The trick would be not getting burned as a witch or something for "inventing" stuff too fast. You’d have to play it smart and slow. I’d probably just act like a humble traveler who knows a thing or two about building sturdy structures. After a couple hundred years, you’d be the guy who knows how to make metal last longer or how to optimize tools. It would be lonely as hell, sure, but you’d essentially become a living legend, shaping civilization from the shadows while watching humanity rise and fall over and over.
The only downside is the sheer boredom once you've seen every empire crumble. But hey, at least I’d never have to worry about a deadline or a broken circuit board ever again. Plus, you’d gain so much perspective. By the time you caught up to the present day, you’d be so far ahead of the curve that modern life would feel like a total walk in the park. Count me in.
Honestly, that sounds like a total nightmare rather than a gift. Imagine being stuck 3000 years in the past without a smartphone, electricity, or even basic medicine. As someone who's used to fixing stuff and dealing with modern tech, I’d probably lose my mind in a week. I'd miss the comfort of a warm bed and decent food way too much to ever say yes to that.
If I somehow had no choice and got stuck there, I guess I'd try to use my head to survive. I know a bit about how things work, so maybe I could act like some kind of inventor or just keep my head down and stay out of trouble. But honestly, the thought of watching everyone I'd meet die while I stay the same age forever is just depressing. It's a hard pass for me, immortality is overrated if you're just gonna be bored or lonely for eternity.
