Is there a business that baffles you to still be up and running?

Honestly, those old-school mattress stores in the middle of nowhere always get me. You drive past them for years, the sign is fading, and there's never a single car in the parking lot. I’ve been around the block enough to know how high the overhead is on retail space, so how they keep the lights on with maybe one customer a month is a total mystery. It feels like a front for something else, but then again, maybe people are just buying beds in ways I don't understand.

Then there are those shops that sell nothing but niche stuff like specialized clock parts or antique typewriter ribbons. I get that there's a hobbyist crowd out there, but the rent in some of these neighborhoods is sky high. Sometimes I walk by and think about the math involved—if they need to cover rent, utilities, and stock, they must have some serious margins on those tiny parts. Either they own the building outright or they've got some deep pocketed regulars keeping the whole thing afloat.
