Who is the best example of someone that you're not sure if they are a complete idiot or a genius?

To anyone who is interested in Czech culture, I cannot recommend enough the writings of Jaroslav Hasek. His story, the Good Soldier Svejk, fits the mold of a complete imbecile who may actually be a total genius. However, the legends surrounding Hasek are even more interesting. He was a known anarchist who was drafted into the Austro-Hungarian army, and was captured by the Russians the same year. One time, he checked into a Prague hotel under a Russian sounding name, causing the local constabulary to think he was a spy for the Russian government. After hours of investigation, the police eventually discovered that they were investigating the town drunk. Oh, and he also founded the coolest sounding political movement: Strana mirneho pokroku v mezich zakona (The Party for Moderate Progress Within the Limits of Law).

In Harvard Square, an old Asian man furiously plays a one-stringed bamboo instrument in a slightly haunting cacophony. My cousin, a graduate of Berklee school of music, says he studied the man and could not determine if he was a genius or mentally ill. Edit: Somebody posted an article about him and deleted their comment.. Apparently, he's neither a genius nor crazy, he's just okay and enjoys playing. "George W. Bush. Look up his first gubernatorial campaign and watch the debate video. He doesn't come across as the simple kind of idiot who gave us the words stregic and strategery. He was very much sounding like a Yale graduate. A few years later comes back sounds like a redneck who has never heard of Yale. Then he gets elected governor. A few more years and then hes a redneck who apparently doesn't even know English and he gets elected to be President!!! All my friends think he's an idiot but I KNOW he's actually a freaking genius. If he stayed all smart an erudite he'd have never gotten elected. He dumbed himself down and every dumbass in Anerica said "Wow, that dudes just like me." "
