who still depend on their transitional objects (blankets, teddies, etc.) What is it? How did you acquire it? Do you wish you didn't need it?

A little backstory here. My mother got out of a very abusive relationship, but he still had partial custody over their kids. (He never hurt them in any way, shape, or form) He kept asking for her back, but of course she said no. 2 years ago on Valentine's day, he got gifts for my younger siblings to give her. That in itself was just weird. Anyway, My mom was creeped out by the whole situation. I just took the stuff so it wouldn't be wasted. Among the gifts was a stuffed dog. Whenever I can't sleep, I snuggle up with it and it helps. I hate that I rely on it. Especially since it's from him.

I sleep better with something to cuddle in my arms. It doesn't have to be something specific, but I always take a stuffed animal with me when I sleep somewhere else, or for example when I sleep at my boyfriend's place, I take one of his plushies or pillows. I personally don't have a problem with that, but I guess its generally more accepted when girls sleep with plushies than it is when guys do it.

Had a hat I'd wear indoors, and I'd put it on whenever my abusive wife began to verbally abuse me. Am in my late 30s

I still sleep with the stuffed animal I got as a 4 year old- it's embarrassing to admit, but if I don't have either that or another kind of soft object to hold onto, I have a hard time sleeping and I'll get nervous

A blanket that I got when I was 6 or 7, my mother got me as a tv blanket. It's one of the few things of her that I still have. I wish I didn't need to touch it every day to just get on with normal life, but it is what it is.
