People who keep bird in cage as pet, who hurt you?

We adopted 2 cockatiels and they lived in cages, sort of. They had their own room which they had free run of during the day but mostly they liked to chill in or on their cages. We locked them up at night and I think they liked it that way because it helped them feel secure while they slept. The sad truth is they would never be able to survive in the wild. They don't have the strength or skills to make it out there. They're wonderful, intelligent animals and people should take great efforts to ensure their pet birds have good lives, but you can't just release them and think it will all be fine.

My boyfriends old roommates had a parakeet. They would lock it in a cage and then never take care of it. It would sit in there and yell all day long. I feel so bad for the thing.

Those small cages are torture for sure. If you're not building an aviary at the very least please don't take birds.

The cage is where it sleeps at night and where it does its morning poop. Never take the bird out before its morning poop!
