Fruit yogurt is definitely one of them. People think they're eating something healthy, but once you look past the branding, it's mostly just a ton of added sugar and thickeners with maybe two tiny pieces of strawberry floating around. It’s basically dessert disguised as a snack, and honestly, you're better off just grabbing a plain yogurt and tossing in some real fruit yourself.

Another one that drives me crazy is "truffle oil." You’d think it’s some gourmet essence of rare fungi, but 99% of the time, it’s just synthetic chemicals mixed with olive oil. It’s like the fast-food version of a luxury ingredient. Once you’ve actually smelled or tasted real, fresh truffle, that bottled stuff just smells like straight-up gasoline to me. It's wild how effective marketing is at convincing us we're eating something fancy when we're really not.

Crab sticks are the ultimate imposter too. They aren't even crab; it’s mostly pulverized white fish, starch, and flavoring dyed to look like the real deal. I remember finding that out years ago and feeling totally betrayed. It’s the same vibe as those "cheese" slices that don't melt right because they're technically a "food product" instead of actual cheese. Sometimes I think we just get used to these pale imitations because they're convenient.

Oh, this is such a good topic! For me, it's definitely "crab sticks" or those imitation crab meat things you see in salads. Everyone knows they aren't actually crab, just some processed white fish with coloring and flavoring, but somehow we still call them crab. It feels exactly like the white chocolate thing because it's just a complete imposter in the kitchen.

Then there's "fruit yogurt" that you buy in those little tubs. If you actually look at the ingredients, it's mostly just sugar and some weird chemical gunk. I started making my own yogurt at home because it honestly felt like I was eating dessert instead of a healthy snack. It’s like the food companies just sprinkle a tiny bit of fruit extract in there and call it a day, which is pretty frustrating when you're trying to keep things healthy for the family.

Don't even get me started on "maple syrup" that isn't actually maple syrup. The cheap stuff is just corn syrup with some caramel color and artificial maple flavor. My husband bought it by mistake once and the taste was so off, just sickly sweet and not right at all. You really have to read the labels carefully these days or you end up eating stuff that's basically just sugar in disguise.
