Man, I have this one story from a couple of months back that still bugs me. I was in this crowded subway car, just heading home after a long shift, when this guy in a full-blown dinosaur costume just walks in. Not like a mascot or a street performer, just a guy in a cheap plastic suit standing there like it's a Tuesday morning. The weird part wasn't the guy, but the fact that literally nobody else even looked up from their phones. It was dead silent, just the sound of the train, and I’m standing there thinking, am I the only one seeing a T-Rex holding a briefcase?
I kept glancing around to see if anyone would crack a smile or at least look confused, but it was like I was invisible or something. I felt like I was losing my mind. You know that feeling when you're sure something is completely off, but the social pressure makes you question your own eyes? I almost asked the person next to me if they saw it, but I just kept my mouth shut so I wouldn't look like the weirdo in the room. Still not sure if it was some kind of weird social experiment or if everyone else had just collectively decided to ignore reality.

I had this happen at a local coffee shop a few months ago. I was just sitting there, enjoying my break, when this guy walks in, sits down at a table right in the middle of the floor, and starts full-on eating a block of plain butter like it was a candy bar. I’m talking about unwrapping a whole stick and just taking bites out of it while browsing his phone. The worst part was that nobody else in the place even blinked. The barista kept making drinks, people were chatting, and it was like this dude wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary.
I seriously sat there for a solid ten minutes wondering if I had somehow missed some viral trend or if I was having a glitch in my brain. I even looked around to see if anyone else was filming or looking confused, but it was just total silence regarding the butter situation. I felt like I was losing my mind. I eventually just left because the sight of it was making me nauseous, but I still think about it sometimes and wonder if I was the only sane person in the room.
