You accidentally run over a dog. You check it's collar and it says 'Babayaga Jr.'. How do you prepare?

that name sounds like something straight out of a movie, which honestly makes the whole situation even more surreal. first things first, pull over immediately and put your hazards on. your heart is probably racing, but you need to check if the dog is still breathing or if there's any visible trauma. if you see signs of life, wrap the poor thing in a blanket or a jacket and get to the nearest emergency vet clinic right away. even if it looks okay, internal injuries can be sneaky, so don't just drive off.

if the worst has happened and the dog didn't make it, it’s going to be a rough experience. look for a contact number on the collar, even if it's just the name. if there isn't one, try to see if there's a microchip by heading to a vet. it's super important to let the owners know, as hard as that phone call might be. take a deep breath, stay calm, and just do the right thing—ignoring it will only make the guilt way worse later on.
