if a remake of Oregon Trail was made for the current platforms, what would be your expectations of the game?

I'm thinking fallout or skyrim with massive map. You'll be able to trade, hunt, rob, kill in the open west. You can hijack or buy wagons, siege forte, ford water, and use old timey weapons. Alternative: A spacefaring game. Think freespace, wing commander, or privateer and firefly. You have the choice of buying a spacecraft in the beginning (which later you can sell, upgrade or buy new. You have 2 years to travel to a new habitable star system. The shipping lane is named oregon trail. You will meet pirates, bandits, be able to dock with stations and land on planets along the way. The former would teach the history in a great non-boring way. The latter would not teach history. MECC made educational games, e.g. The trails series. They could make both. Oregon trail was history. The space version could be used for economics (we had a much crummier game).
