Been asked before, but where can someone find the news that's ""just the facts?"" Been through NPR, AP, Reuters, BBC, and even AutoNews seems to be bent. Tired of wading through opinions disguised as news. Help?

"As an independent voter with no political affiliation, I don't believe there are any impartial news sources left. My approach is to read as much as possible from myriad sources and get "facts" from both sides, then make an interpretation from there. This actually offers a great advantage in conversations, as many people tend to stick to one or two sources at most. When people are spouting off talking points from the left or right, you can calmly interject a slightly different perspective and it (usually) opens up a new facet to the discussion that otherwise wouldn't have been there. You'll appear, and actually be, better informed and more impartial. Note: after taking this approach for many years, by and large conservatives tend to be more open minded than progressives about receiving new or different information, and progressives will more immediately dismiss new Information and label you as an idiot of a fascist, despite your sources. YMMV. "

If every news site seems really biased to you, it's probably you that's biased. That said, you can't erase all bias. Every site will have some bend to it

"Can you think of any recent examples of any of NPR, AP, Reuters, and the BBC being "bent"? Those sources are consistently unbiased, objective, and accurate in my experience. If you think they are so biased that they are to be avoided, you may just be paranoid and delusional yourself. "

I listen to a lot of liberal and conservative newsa to try and keep perspective from all sides. Given that, NPR is by far the most even-minded of them all. They avoid hyperbole and opinion pieces in their news (unlike Fox and others who have 'opinion contributors' that are on their main news shows). The NPR news hourly updates are excellent and as close to 'just the facts ma'am' as you can get right now. In my opinion :) :)

the answer will always be the same unbiased news dont exist people try but will never achieve 100% neutrality, conscious or not best thing to do is inform yourself from both sides and draw your own conclusions

Associated Press is not terrible. They held off calling Iowa when the Liberal media was talking about President Pete. I do this: I avoid the trolling by being open to the reality they are just that. So I will read AP but I also go to Drudge. Why? The truth is sometimes in between and it's good to see how it is slanted and then educate yourself on the slants.

Try separating yourself from corporate media. If it has ads, or requires a subscription, they are more likely to be biased towards one side or the other.

All news is biased, even when it isn't overtly so, choice of words can still influence how you feel about something. When consuming news there are not only these obvious ways of bias but also in what gets reported and how much coverage something gets. So sadly, there is no truely unbiased news. If you want to learn how to identify framing to consume the news with less bias you should consider checking out the work of William Gamson. His focus is the framing of social movements but the theory might be interesting to you.
