Had anyone mastered the art of coping with that sinking feeling when it just strikes out of nowhere and derails the entire healing process?

That is not a derailment it is part of it. Remind yourself it is normal, expected and necessary and allow yourself to feel. It is a symptom and will pass in time as all symptoms do, remind your brain that it is doing its best and remind yourself that too. No pressure, no judgement just allowance, but pay attention and if you can dont let it take control your thoughts, however all you can do is your best and that's more than ok.

Best I've come up with is 3 deep breaths in and out, a glass of water, and thinking of a time when something was so funny, I couldn't stop laughing. (Also helps to keep a lil memory list of those times, for quick reference)
"I had a really embarrassing moment in 7th grade ( and the slight odd chance that a 7th grader or a 6th grader or anyone lower is seeing this, just wear deodorant and go to class no one likes 7th grade ) and I just told myself, "It's something I did and I accept that." "
I have nothing to offer other than it does not reside at the bottom of a bottle
