"Curse you! You have awoken one of my worst childhood memories! I have been gifted* at spelling my entire life. (*Probably because my parents took the time to teach me phonics before I started elementary school.) The only time I ever remember getting a single word wrong on a spelling test in grade school was that word. I knew I was right. I'd seen the word "grey" before. If I remember correctly, I had just been reading about greyhound racing. I think that's what did it. A big red X. Next to my correctly spelled word. I never spelled that word with an 'e' again. "

Grey = British spelling. Gray = American spelling. Unfortunately, no worldwide mutant orca conspiracies. Just a simple variance like all the others.

One is the actual spelling. The other is British.

The word grey/gray is sounding really weird to me right now after reading it in my head about 50 times in a row.

I actually have two best friends who are constantly getting in this fight because one has the last name of Gray and the other has the last name of Grey. Neither one is british. I enjoy watching the fights :)
