So assuming Trump loses the election, and he stays in America, and he is charged with a crime, and is found guilty, and is sent to prison... what is the mandate of the Secret Service to protect a former president in jail?

https://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/457/731 Nixon v. Fitzgerald: In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that the President is entitled to absolute immunity from liability for civil damages based on his official acts. Essentially if he did it using his offical powers while in office, the former president would be immune. Several justices found that he is qualified in immunity because impeachment is the proper channel for that sort of offense furthermore, impeachment allows a former president to be prosecuted, as per the Constitution. I am in my senior year and I study a lot of case law. Oddly enough, this case is something we've covered.

They wouldn't give him jail time. They'd probably confine him to his fucking Florida golf resort. Oh the horror.
He wouldn't serve time in a prison. They'd give him an alternative consequence.
most high profile prisoners are forced into protective custody anyway, but this is a very interesting question. i wish I knew.
It might be easier and cheaper to do some kind of house-arrest.
