Question for the women: Why are you less embarrassed when in a bikini/bathing outfit in comparison to underwear that covers the same body parts?

Cevaplar
I'm a woman and did not realize this was a thing. Maybe because swimwear is better made and supports your body better? Or maybe because when you're in your swimsuit other people are also wearing swimsuits, but when you're in your underwear there's probably not a beach full of people around.

The real question is why I feel less embarrassed after swimming. I feel shy getting in the water, but not coming out.
Not a woman, but because in one they are choosing to show those parts of their body.
Bikini on the beach is a choice. You walking in on a woman while in her underwear is not a choice.
Underwear is often transparent/flimsy (lace etc). A bikini covers the same area but it will be properly covered and not see-through. They are very different.
I'm not. Some women (irrationally) hate their bodies, others don't. There are plenty of guys who feel that way too
I don't differentiate but I don't like those thong kinda bikini bottoms that seem to be trendy recently. I would feel too naked.
A bathing suit is a complete outfit. Underwear generally is an incomplete outfit so most of the time if I'm seen in my underwear I'm caught or surprised.
I don't wear bikinis I only wear one pieces
Stupid societal stigmas. We've been taught to be embarrassed by being seen in our underwear. But also underwear does tend to cover less than a bathing suit typically.
