One time in the er, a guy came in with a piece of a ceramic coffee mug embedded deep in his forearm. The weird part wasn't the cut itself, but how he told us it happened. He claimed he was trying to catch a falling mug with his arm like a baseball mitt, but he misjudged the angle and the ceramic just shattered right into his skin on impact. It was a messy, jagged mess that took forever to clean out without causing more nerve damage.

Then there was this lady who had a "mysterious" puncture wound on her calf that kept getting infected. We were all scratching our heads for a few days until she finally remembered she’d been organizing her sewing kit and thought she’d just grazed herself. Turned out, a rusty needle had snapped off and traveled deep into the muscle tissue. Seeing that on the x-ray was pretty wild, especially since she had been walking around on it for nearly a week like it was nothing.

You really see it all in this job. Sometimes people show up with the most bizarre injuries from the simplest chores at home. It honestly makes you look at your own kitchen or garage a bit differently after a while. I've learned that if something seems like a minor scratch but just won't heal right, it's almost always hiding something strange underneath.
