"I occasionally have problems with my right ear, minor infections that swell the ear canal and trap water when I shower. I've had good luck using over-the-counter "triple antibiotic" ointment. I pack my ear canal with ointment, and then use a q-tip to make sure the ointment goes all the way to the ear drum. (It's possible to puncture your ear drum doing this if you're not careful, so be careful.) The ointment is absorbed in a few minutes, and my infection usually clears up in a day or two. Your mileage may vary. "

Many chain pharmacies have in-store clinics these days. They usually charge $50-60 for an uninsured visit. A course of generic antibiotics is around $10. Not too expensive.

Find some recently expired medicine, Amoxicillin, and take it. (Should be free!) Expiry dates just mean they start losing efficacy, it doesn't necessarily mean it's spoilt.

Go to your local LGBT center, or if you're a woman, go to Planned Pregnancy. Tell them that you're having symptoms of the clap or any VD, and you'll get a shot of antibiotics large enough to knock out most infections anywhere in the body. Their services are generally free, or donation based. Or, collodial silver, if you're all about the natural remedies.

Try andrographis, it worked for a friend with a killer ear infection. She had tried everything else. Take it orally. Just a suggestion and good luck. .

im assuming since we used herbal medicine for centuries before pharmaceuticals, that there should be some home remedy. People went deaf for those centuries. Or died. You need antibiotics. Call doctors and see if you can find one who will see you cheap. An hour or two on the phone might get you treatment. If you are not allergic antibiotics can be inexpensive. Good luck.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, a meta analysis showed that the use of antibiotics only had an effect on the amount of pain. The use of antibiotics vs placebo had no significant effect on hearing. In children at least. However, since you are (presumably) an adult, it might be best to get things checked out. Amoxicillin is cheap. And make sure you have your immunizations. And don't smoke.
