Optimism. Libraries. (libraries at least in my city are just glorified internet cafes now, and the NYPL doesn't even let you into the stacks anymore because they're tired of people stealing shit, so you have to order your books like they're fucking tacos) Shows that wrapped up the story at the end of the episode, often without anyone raping each other. The mid-budget studio movie, that didn't have to be written in Basic English by a Speak-n-Spell for the Southeast Asian market. Educational television stations, where only factual content could appear. Stand-and-stir cooking shows which were instructional and useful and that didn't give you seizures while watching fat guidos shove their faces full of diabetes or hillbillies embarass themselves for pocket change. Conspiracy theorists being a fringe, stigmatized portion of the population rather than a sizable majority.

The general calmness. There wasn't such an emphasis on infotainment news being blasted in our faces 24/7. The internet wasn't really a thing and it was much slower and less accessible so there was less of an agenda, which meant way less disinformation as well (not to say there wasn't any). I miss all that

You could get on a plane with just a ticket. No security. Like, if you were in Hawaii on the main island and you wanted to get to Maui, you could just go to the airport, buy a ticket and get on the plane the same like you would with a bus and be over there in 15 minutes.

Mike Tyson fights. I guarantee you never heard punches make the sound that a Mike Tyson punch does when it lands. But hey Old Man Tyson is fighting Old Man Roy Jones in November so I would Highly recommend watching.
